The Ceiling:
First off our house is old. It use to be a world war II POW house. At each end of our house, in the attic, is a little window called a vent. We have to go up at the end of spring to open them and at the end of fall to close them. Having them open helps keep our house a bit cooler. Which is nice because our house also lacks air conditioning. So one day when we find it out its going to be in the upper 90's we decided its time to open the windows. (Note: we didn't do it before because just before that we had a cold spell where it was in the 50's) Michael starts to open the little hatch to enter the attic and finds it a bit difficult. As it turns out about a month before this our land lords and some insulation put in. Now those guys didn't care where it went they just sprayed it all over the place up there. It was kind of nasty. Well we finally got Michael up there and he opens the first window and starts crawling across to the other side. I'm waiting next the entrance when I hear a crash. Michael yells down and tells me to go look in the living room. Michael had slipped and put his knee through our ceiling.
The hole at its widest points was about 2.5 feet by 3 feet. It has been patched now but the huggies box is still up there as a memento to us staying here.
The Cake:
As mentioned above, our house is old. Along with our very fragile ceiling we have lop sided floors. Its most noticeable in our hall way. But apparently our kitchen is pretty lopsided as well. I was making a cake for Adam's birthday party and when I pulled it out this was the result.
See how the top right corner is nice and fluffy and the bottom left you can see the inside of the baking sheet!
And this my friends is the difference. Don't worry we served our guests from the fluffy side.
